The LG Secret, with its 5-megapixel camera and neon touch interface, combined with carbon-fibre exterior and tempered glass display, truly is a phone with both brains and beauty.
The Secret is the latest in LG's Black Label series, which also included the Chocolate and the Shine. What is really unique about this phone is the 'neon touch' interface, which glows a beautiful blue when touched.
I found myself pressing different buttons just to see the blue glowing light. It never gets old!
The phone itself is a slider with the full keypad tucked away, while directly below the screen are four navigation button with haptic feedback - think of the interactivity of the Samsung Soul handset, and it is something like this.
The Secret also has a built-in accelerometer, which seems to be the increasing trend in more and more handsets these days, and this is used to clever effect in some of the onboard games, including a dart throwing one.
This is a fashionista's phone, but with all the trimmings. The camera and video function are top notch - not as high-tech as the latest LG Renoir mind you, but still extremely impressive.
The video capture is at 120 frames per second, so you can record slow-motion video for dramatic effect on its 2.4-inch QVGA screen.
There is also an SD memory card slot, which supports up to 4GB, so no worries about carrying around some movies or music.
While the tempered glass screen sounds and looks cool, it is also very tough - dropping this handset or jiggling it against the car keys in your bag or pocket will have little effect, so you get durability combined with beauty.
Functionality: The combination of touch navigation and regular handset keypad makes for a nice user experience
Design: Stunningly beautiful. The neon touch is great design addition
Verdict: A good competitor to the Samsung Soul
Price: From €249 with O2 bill-pay, €199 with Vodafone bill-pay (€369 prepay), from €129 with Meteor bill-pay and also from 3gmobile.ie.
