Sony details PS3 motion controller
22.06.2009

Games developer partners of Sony were privy to the workings of the E3-debuted upgrade of Sony's PlayStation Eye, in combination with brand-new motion controller technology that will work across a selection of first-party and third-party content, Sony has said.
As reported in Kotaku Sony Computer Entertainment said that this gaming technology will work "with any games across all genres, from casual to core".
Unlike Microsoft's Project Natal, which heralds a brand-new Xbox console in 2010, complete with full body and voice detection, Sony has reportedly detailed that the motion controller and PlayStation Eye combination will use "face-tracking and head-tracking capability already in the PS3 SDK", but that this will unlock great tools to developers for new kinds of gaming interaction.
The motion controller will work with the Eye camera to give motion detection in up to four controllers at once, as well as voice recognition.
One of the coolest possibilities when it comes to packaging the new motion controller with the existing DualShock 3 is that these could be used as sword and shield in some games.
