Google Reader gets ready for the iPad
12.03.2010

Whether you're gearing up for the arrival of the iPad or you have a short attention span, the beta version of Google Reader Play, as a highly visual RSS slideshow, is a perfect choice.
Google Reader Play is essentially a slideshow and preview version of Google's existing RSS reader but rather than pulling in content in a list view you see a cover flow-esque parade of the latest feeds from the web.
Right now, it doesn't look as though your current Google Reader settings can be ported over but instead you have the option of choosing from Google's list of feeds, including science, technology, sports, entertainment and so on.
Within the slideshow you can just simply let it play or flip from article to article, choosing to 'like', 'star' or share the content. The articles themselves simply show an image, video or the first sentence of the feed rather than in its entirety.
If you like, you can switch between the original layout of the feed you have pulled or leave it in its 'magic' layout, where everything looks smooth, uniform, pretty and likely is designed to sit well with iPad users.
