MySpace to get major makeover

MySpace is looking at a big relaunch that will take place in stages over the coming year. Yes, another relaunch, but this time without Owen Van Natta at the helm and with a big focus on turning the troubled networking site into an entertainment hub.

With two CEOs down in the past year, MySpace seems determined to push itself forward with the key word being "innovation" - this is what co-presidents Jason Hirschhorn and Mike Jones both say has been the problem with MySpace and not the fact it is broadly perceived as no longer being as "cool" as Facebook or Twitter.

To say that it has fallen out of fashion is insulting for the 100 million members and hundreds of thousands who still sign up on a daily basis they said to Kara Swisher at AllThingsD.com.

Jones says the site will not try to compete with other social networking services but rather focus on its core group of 13-to-34-year-olds.

The site will also be playing big towards its already faithful members: up-and-coming bands - something that the site is well known for and something around which a music and entertainment hub will be built.
