Sony launches line of 3D Blu-ray players

Get ready for the summer of 3D entertainment: Sony has launched two different 3D-ready Blu-ray players as well as several 3D-enabled home-entertainment systems.

The BDP-S570, which was announced at CES, will be capable of playing 3D Blu-ray disc movies with no firmware upgrade while the BDP-S470, following a software upgrade, will also be able to play the same discs on a 3D enabled TV.

Along with this a slew of Sony Home Cinema products - the BDV-E370, BDV-E870, BDV-E970W, BDV-F500 and BDV-F700 - will also have 3D Ready status.

The BDP-S570 Blur-ray 3D player is wireless LAN Ready, has USB ports for adding on content, supports DivX HD and MKV formats and allows the user to harness the iPhone or iPod touch as a remote control.

Meanwhile, the BDP-S570 has all of these features save for the wireless LAN connectivity but does have built-in Wi-Fi.
