Twitter tweaks homepage with hovercards
05.02.2010

Microblogging service Twitter had added a new feature to its webpage in the form of hovercards.
For those who read and write their tweets through the Twitter.com portal rather than through third-party applications, such as TweetDeck or Twhirl, this new feature will make it easier to interact with others in your Twitter stream.
For users mentioned in your stream (via @), instead of clicking through to follow, view their profile, etc, you simply hover your mouse over their handle or avatar and without navigating from your homepage you can view data, like their number of followers, or interact with them.
There is also an option to see an expanded view of the card. This feature is not ubiquitous and will be rolled out in stages.
