Inbrics Android device to converge home media
05.02.2010

Android will soon play a part in home entertainment as tech company Inbrics plans to bring the Google OS-powered MID M1 handset to the Mobile World Congress as well as its buddy, the Convergence One, together, designed to share movies, pictures and other content in the home.
Curiously, Inbrics is calling it a MID, or mobile internet device, as opposed to a smart phone, although this is essentially what it is, down to the app that allows it to control the Convergence 1 media hub for playing movies and so on.
It certainly is a beautifully designed Android device, complete with a mix of touch and QWERTY keypad input and an AMOLED screen. It also has a 3-megapixel camera on the back, a VGA camera on the front, 16GB of internal memory and a MicroSD card slot.
"We believe that the near future will dictate seamless single-device applications for the consumer, which is why we are committed to the media convergence space," said Bobby Cha, chief marketing officer at Inbrics.
"Our goal is to create a more intuitive experience that every consumer can benefit from."
The company plans to introduce the MID M1 in Europe through both fixed and wireless carriers beginning in 2010 or early 2011.
