Sony's new eye-popping Cyber-shots arrive
27.01.2010

Sony has brought three new consumer handhelds to the Irish market: the Cyber-shot HX5, W380 and TX7, ranging from pocket-friendly to super-specced.
The Cyber-shot TX7 is super-slim and shoots full HD movies. It's barely there chassis conceals a Carl Zeiss 4x optical zoom lens plus it's a 25-mm wide angle, so beautiful landscape shots are easy to pull off.
This retails at €439 (ERP) and has a 3.5-inch touchscreen LCD plus Sony's TruBlack screen technology for viewing your snaps easily even in bright sunlight.
It also has Intelligent Sweep Panorama for getting wide-angle shots from a compact camera plus Picture Motion Browser (PMB) Portable software for instant internet uploads from a USB connection.
The HX5, retailing at €379, also has this software plus spiffy HDR (High Dynamic Range) Backlight Correction - this means strongly backlit scenes can be adjusted for natural hues and tones.
It also automatically shoots two frames of the same scene in rapid succession, getting the best out of both a lowlight and highlight scene and stitches the two magically together to get a detailed-packed best-of-both-worlds image.
The dinky Cyber-shot W380 is a 14.1-megapixel animal with x5 optical zoom that is super lightweight and compact and comes in black, silver, gold and red.
